Anza-Borrego Desert, California
(Updated)--Thanks for the heads up on spelling Pat. Sorry about that. I am amazed I got a response less than 24 hours after posting.
Be on the lookout for Road Runner birds...they do exist.
Borrego Springs: What an awesome place. Never knew the desert could be soo beautiful. Recommendations when visiting: The visitors center is amazing. Fonts point is really nice early in the morning. The slot is such a cool place. The water has carved out deep canyons in the desert floor making for a neat hike. These photos were taken before the Fall 2007 Fires in San Diego. Get directions to these places from the visitor center. The slot is a 6 inch by 12 inch sign and hard to find. When they say a 2WD vechile road vs a 4wd road take them at their word. If you are comming from San Diego, make sure to stop by the town of Julian for some yummy Apple Pie.

WOW, Mike! This is lovely. I live here in San Diego and haven't been to AB Desert. You've encouraged me to add it to my "list".
Mike,
PLEASE correct the Title of your post.
It should read Anza-Borrego Desert
NOT Anaza Borrego Desert.
Thanks,
Pat (webmanager for www.borregospringschamber.com)
Mike,
I knew the spelling was off, but figured you're an out-of-town "amateur". The fact that it was corrected by an AB Desert webmanager, I guess it can be taken as a comp' that she cares.
Keep posting photos and notes; it's great to follow all your adventures.
